Tuesday, 7/5/11 … shelling off Cayo Costa

Tarpon reel.
Hank, post snorkel.

The shelling was great off Cayo Costa this morning.

Hank took the initiative and did some shelling and doggy snorkeling on his own.

We had a slow start fishing this afternoon, but ended up with trout,  jacks & ladyfish biting very well.

Fair winds and following seas,

Saturday, 7/2/11 … Hank swims with a barracuda; not the best idea

We went offshore to an artificial reef on today’s fishing charter, where we lost a big barracuda.

Part of the problem was Hank getting overexcited and jumping in the water after the barracuda at the wrong time.

There really isn’t ever a good or appropriate time for a labrador to jump in the water after a barracuda.  I tie him up most of the time in these situations.

I was trying to capture the the barracuda striking our bait on video with an underwater camera on an extension pole, and then Hank jumped into the water.

Another interesting fishing day with Hank!
