Tuesday, 4/19/11 … Kids + flounder + trout + tarpon = more fun

Easter is really late this year (someone told me it won’t be this late again for another eighty years), but being two to four weeks later in the spring means the water is warmer and  the fishing just a little better than the typical Easter week.

As always, we have a lot of vacationers for Easter week and that means lots of kids on the boat, which is always fun!   Children seem to really flourish and take a lot of joy and accomplishment out of fishing and Captiva is a great, safe place to get them out on a fishing charter.

We had another great charter this morning with fun kids who were quite the anglers!

For most of the morning, we caught mostly flounder and trout off Captiva and North Captiva and everyone had success.

At the end of the trip, right before we had to head in to pickup the afternoon charter, we hooked a nice tarpon and brought him to the boat for photos.

We caught the tarpon off North Captiva, just north of Redfish Pass, on the bay side, using cut bait.

The kids were very excited.

We even managed to avoid the sharks today!
